2011 Goodreads Choice Awards

Voting for The Goodreads Choice Awards 2011 closed on 30th November after a total of 638,628 were cast. The Goodreads Choice Awards are the only major book awards voted for and decided entirely by readers. Readers had three chances to vote, with the final round between the top 10 books in each category.

E.L. James got to the final round in the Romance Category with Fifty Shades of Grey and though she sadly didn’t win, she came second with a huge 3,815 votes!

E.L. James lives in West London and is a TV executive, wife and mother. Fifty Shades of Grey, released in May 2011, is her debut novel.  Along with the second book in the series, Fifty Shades Darker, it remains on the Amazon Best Selling Erotica Novel list today.

“Fifty Shades of Grey is all-consuming, in the best possible way!” – Tevya, Reading Lark.

“This fiction is insanely hot!” – Krishna, Journey with Books

When asked about getting to the final round of the awards, E.L. James said, “It’s still hard for me to believe I’m up there with wonderful writers I have loved and admired for years.”  However, up there she was, and TWCS could not be prouder; “We were so blown away for E.L. James and her nomination, especially when she reached the finals against those other fantastic authors. We couldn’t be more proud and happy for her. She works very hard and deserves all the success now and in future years.” – Amanda Hayward, CEO.

E.L. James is especially grateful for and thankful to her fans and voters. She said, “I would like to thank every single person who has voted for me.  I feel humbled and deeply moved by their support.”

If you liked Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker, you will also enjoy the third instalment in the series, Fifty Shades Freed, which will be released in January. You can pre-order the paperback from 29th December.
